App: in play: Golf Edition (“the App”)
Publisher: Blackcroft Corp. (“we,” “us,” or “our”)
Effective Date: May 16, 2026
Last Updated: May 16, 2026
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how in play: Golf Edition handles information when you use the App. We have designed the App with privacy as a core principle: we do not operate servers that collect or store your personal data. Your information lives in your own private Apple iCloud account, under your control.
If you do not agree with the practices described in this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
This Privacy Policy applies to users of in play: Golf Edition on iOS devices, including:
- Competitive amateur golfers (junior, college, and adult);
- Parents, coaches, and managers who use the App to support golfers;
- Anyone who accesses or interacts with the App or its associated services.
The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. See Section 8 for details.
3. Information You Provide Directly
You enter all information stored in the App yourself. Depending on which features you use, this may include:
- Golfer profiles — first and last name, gender, date of birth, school, expected graduation year, an optional profile photo, and free-text notes.
- Tournament and event details – tournament names, dates, locations, registration deadlines, the courses where tournaments are played (including course addresses), and associated events such as receptions, dinners, pro-ams, and practice rounds.
- Tournament entries – the entries you create linking a golfer to a tournament, including their status (Considering, Registered, Accepted, Played, or Withdrawn).
- Travel plans and itineraries — flight, accommodation, and rental-car details such as airline names, confirmation numbers, check-in and check-out times, and pickup/drop-off locations.
- Financial information – registration fees, travel costs, and on-the-ground expenses (for example caddie fees, meals, fuel, or parking), recorded in any currency you choose.
- Support team information – names, roles, email addresses, phone numbers, and home addresses for the coaches, parents, caddies, and managers you add to assist your golfers.
- Free-text notes you add anywhere in the App.
All of this information is entered voluntarily and stored in your private iCloud account. None of it is sent to a server operated by Blackcroft Corp.
Information about other people. When you enter information about another person – for example a coach’s email address or a caddie’s phone number – you are responsible for ensuring you have that person’s consent, or another lawful basis, to record their information.
4. Information We Do Not Collect
We want to be explicit about what the App does not do:
- We do not operate a server that receives, stores, or processes your personal data.
- We do not have access to your tournaments, entries, travel plans, expenses, photos, notes, or any other information you enter into the App.
- We do not sell, rent, lease, or share your personal information with third parties.
- We do not display advertising in the App or share data with advertising networks.
- We do not use third-party analytics services such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar.
- We do not track your activity across other apps or websites.
We do not collect biometric data, contact lists, or other device data. When you add a profile photo, the App receives only the specific photo you selected through Apple’s privacy-preserving photo picker – never your full photo library.
Premium subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through your App Store account. We do not receive your name, address, credit card number, or other payment details. We receive only the anonymized transaction status (subscribed / not subscribed) required to unlock Premium features.
4a. External Services
The App does contact third-party endpoints:
- api.frankfurter.app – Currency exchange rates. The App sends only a 3-letter currency code (e.g. “USD”). No personal data is transmitted.
- Apple WeatherKit – the App sends a tournament course’s coordinates (not your device location) to retrieve a 5-day forecast. Apple’s privacy practices apply.
- Apple MapKit / Geocoder – addresses you enter for courses/hotels are sent to Apple to compute coordinates and driving estimates. Apple’s privacy practices apply.
5. How Your Data Is Stored: Apple iCloud and CloudKit
The App uses Apple iCloud and Apple’s CloudKit framework to store and sync your data across devices signed in to your Apple ID. This means:
- Your data is stored in your own private iCloud account.
- Your data syncs across your iPhone, iPad, and other Apple devices automatically.
- Your data is subject to Apple’s privacy practices and terms, available at apple.com/legal/privacy.
- We do not have direct access to the data stored in your private iCloud database.
- If you sign out of iCloud or disable iCloud sync, the App’s data sync features will be unavailable.
You can manage your iCloud storage and data through your device’s Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud menu.
5a. Workspace Sharing
The App allows you to optionally share your workspace with other Apple users via Apple’s CloudKit Sharing. When you create a share:
- You choose the recipients (by Apple ID, email, or share link) and the permission level (read-write or read-only).
- The sharing operation is handled entirely by Apple’s iCloud infrastructure. We do not see or process share invitations.
- Recipients you invite with read-write privileges can view and modify the records in your shared workspace, including financial records.
- Recipients you invite with read-only privileges can view records only but will not have visibility to financial records.
- You can revoke a share or remove participants at any time from within the App, which terminates their access via iCloud.
Sharing is opt-in and inactive by default.
6. Permissions the App May Request
The App may request permission to access certain device features. You can grant or deny each permission, and you can change these settings later in your device’s Settings app. Permissions may include:
- Calendar access: to add tournament dates to your device calendar (only if you use this feature);
- Notifications: to remind you of upcoming events or deadlines (only if you enable notifications);
Profile photo selection: When you add a golfer’s profile photo, the App uses Apple’s privacy-preserving photo picker. The App receives only the specific photo you select — it does not have access to your full photo library.
Denying any permission will disable only the related feature; the rest of the App continues to function normally.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
Because your data is stored in your private iCloud account, you control its retention. You can:
- Export all your data to a portable JSON file (.mag extension) at any time via Settings → Diagnostics → Imports and Exports → Export Data.
- Delete individual records (golfers, tournaments, entries, travel plans, itinerary items, expenses, support persons) from within the App at any time.
- For a full reset, use Settings → Diagnostics → Purge All Data to delete every record at once (a two-step confirmation guards against accidents).
- Delete the entire App from your device, which removes its local data.
- Sign out of iCloud or disable App data sync to stop using cloud storage.
- Permanently delete all App data from iCloud by deleting the App and removing its data from iCloud Storage in your device’s Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.
We do not maintain copies of your data outside of your iCloud account, so we cannot delete data on your behalf.
8. Children’s Privacy
Age requirement. The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. This minimum age is consistent with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar requirements in other regions.
If you are 13–17 (including junior golfers). The App is designed for junior competitive golf and is suitable for teenage use. Before you start, we recommend you read this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use together with a parent or guardian. Enter only the information needed to plan and track tournaments – there is no reason to include sensitive details such as medical history, financial account numbers, or government identifiers. If you choose to share your workspace via iCloud (see Section 5a), do so with the guidance of a parent, guardian, coach, or other trusted adult.
If you are a parent or guardian. You can review, edit, or delete any information entered into the App at any time on the device.
Because data is stored only in the user’s private iCloud account, you remain in control of retention through Apple’s iCloud settings. To remove the App’s data completely, delete the App from the device and clear its data at Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.
If you believe a child under 13 has entered personal information into the App. Please contact us at the email address in Section 12. Because the App does not transmit data to our servers, we cannot delete records directly. We will guide you through removing the App and clearing its iCloud data from the device.
9. Security
We have designed the App to minimize privacy risks by avoiding server-side data collection. Your data security depends on:
- The security of your Apple ID and iCloud account (we recommend enabling two-factor authentication on your Apple ID).
- The security of your iOS device (we recommend using a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID).
- The security practices of Apple iCloud, which are described in Apple’s published security documentation.
We cannot guarantee absolute security of any data, but the App’s design reduces the surface area of risk compared to apps that operate central servers.
10. International Users
The App may be downloaded and used by individuals located outside Canada. If you use the App from outside Canada, you understand that your information is stored in Apple’s iCloud infrastructure, which Apple operates across multiple regions. Apple’s iCloud privacy practices apply, as referenced in Section 5.
If you are located in a jurisdiction with specific data protection laws (such as the European Union under GDPR, California under CCPA, or other regimes), you may have additional rights regarding your personal information. Because we do not collect or process your personal information, most of these rights are exercised directly through Apple iCloud. Please refer to Apple’s privacy resources for region-specific information.
We do not “sell” or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
In Canada, our handling of personal information is governed by the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, provincial legislation including Quebec’s Law 25.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will:
- Update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy.
- Make the updated Policy available within the App and on our website (inplay-golf.com).
- For material changes, notify users through the App or via an update notice at next launch.
Your continued use of the App after the Policy has been updated constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy. If you do not agree with the updated Policy, please discontinue use of the App.
